Checklist: Checking what your students have written

Writing assessment in the following areas:
Content
What have your students written about?
Have your students done what the question asked?
Have your students used their own ideas?
What audience are they writing for?
Have they kept to the point?
Is it interesting?
Structure
Have your students planned your essay?
Have your students kept to the plan?
Do your students’ essay develop properly with a beginning, middle and end?
Have your students written in paragraphs?
Have your students used dialogue, description and action in the right amounts for balance?
Have your students repeated themselves?
Expression
Have your students tried to use interesting words and sentences?
Are your students language right for the audience[reader]?
Have your students used some words too often?
Have your students tried to vary their link words and signpost words?
Technical Accuracy
Are your students sentence punctuation correct?
Have your students used full stops where they should?
Have your students checked their spelling?
Have your students read each sentence carefully for complete sense?
Have your students checked any complex words, punctuations or constructions?

you are welcome Lynda. I found this in a book from DBKU library a few years back when I was in Kuching. It is also very helpful for me too.
