 HOW TO PRODUCE A GOOD PIECE OF WRITING?
1   CREATIVE Introduction
-to hold the interest of the reader
- can begin your essay by using direct speech, a question, stating your feelings etc.
  
You  may begin your essay by using a question  or stating your feelings :
For example:
       How many of us can recollect our early experiences as a baby? For me, my earliest begin only at about the time when I could walk. Prior to that I cannot recall even a little bit.
 2.  EXPAND ideas by adding details - adjectives and adverbs
      a. Add adjective to nouns

          e.g.  Ah Moi is a clerk.
                 Ah Moi is a hardworking clerk.

    

     b. Add adverb to verbs

         e.g   Ah Moi walks to her office.
                 Ah Moi walks slowly to her office.
     
     c. Add phrases

e.g.   Ah Moi works in a school.
         Ah Moi works in a school near a river.

3.  Use a variety of sentence patterns 
               a.  Simple sentence

                    e.g. Ah Moi is a Form 3 student. She likes singing.

               b.  Compound sentence

                    e.g. Ah Moi is tall and thin.

               c.  Complex sentence

                    e.g  Ah Moi is a tall and thin student who likes singing.

 4. CORRECT SPELLINGS
     Do not be confused with Bahasa Melayu
     e.g. television   (televisyen)
            social         (sosial)
              bag           (beg)

 5.  USE FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE
      a.   Proverb (short phrase that gives advice or general truth about life)
            e.g.  Ah Moi : Look at the students making so much noise when there is no  
                    teacher.
                    Ah Hua : Well, when the cat’s away, the mice    
                                  will play.

       b.   Idiom (expression which means something different from the  
             original  meaning   of    each word)
             e.g.   She passed the examination with flying colours.
        c.  Phrasal verb (a verb that combines with an adverb or a preposition) to give  
             a new meaning)
             e.g.   I am sure you can count on him to help you.

        d.  Simile ( a comparison of one thing with another )
             e.g.  When she talked, her voice was as loud as thunder.

6.    Use suitable connectors
       a.  Logical connectors

            –  As a result
            -  Therefore
            -  Besides

       b.Sequence connectors

            -  First
            -  Second
            -  Then
            -  Next
            -  Finally
